A 20-year-old Harare woman has been jailed for 10 years after being convicted of s*xually assaulting her 14-year-old stepson.
Harare regional magistrate Hosea Mujaya sentenced Catherine Nyamudandi to an effective 10 years in prison for aggravated indecent assault.
The State told the court that sometime in April this year, the juvenile went to stay with his father where he attended school.
Nyamudandi would take advantage of her husband’s absence everyday and kiss her step son on the cheeks when he returned from school.
The court heard Nyamudandi’s husband fell ill towards the end of July and was admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital, leaving the former in the care of his son.
During the month of August, Nyamudandi sneaked into her stepson’s room while he was sleeping and asked him to sleep with her but he refused.
On August 14, she forced the boy into her bedroom, took off his clothes and had s*xual intercourse with him.
She threatened to assault her stepson if he cried out.
Three days later, the boy went to sleep naked, with his younger brother but was moved from his bedroom to the sitting room sofa.
The minor shouted at his step mother, resulting in her fleeing the room.
The following day he noticed that he was passing urine laced with blood.
He informed his father on September 13 soon after he was discharged from hospital.
