Shurugwi woman poured hot water on a six-month old baby after the mother of the baby refused to pay back the US$1 she owed the woman, the baby died !!!

In an incident that has shocked villagers in Shurugwi, a six-month-old baby died after she was scalded by a neighbour who intended to pour hot water on the mother following a dispute over a US$1 debt. The neighbour, Tracey Ngono
of Gutsaruzhinji Co-operative, has since been arrested.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko last week said Ms Dorothy Ruvengo borrowed US$1 from Ngono some time back.
The latter then visited the former on the evening of August 16, demanding repayment.

It is understood a fight broke out after Ms Ruvengo indicated she did not have money.
She also reminded Ngono that she, too, owed her US$1.

An enraged Ngono allegedly picked a tin of hot water which was on the stove and allegedly tried to scald Ms Ruvengo.
She, however, instead scalded the baby who was sleeping close by, it is alleged.
The child died in the morning.
